The qigong training at the Dao Yuan School is open to everyone who is interested in qigong. Beginners or people with experience in qigong, medical professionals or people without medical knowledge, elder or younger people, people with health problems and those without can all begin the training at the school.

Whether you would like to practise for your own interest or you would like to integrate it into medical or therapeutic practice, or whether you would like to teach qigong to others, the Dao Yuan School offers the possibility of participation in courses in accordance with your own aims and interests.

Obtaining permission to teach is not the aim of the training programme at the Dao Yuan School. Permission to teach is more to be understood as a potential, but not necessary, byproduct of the programme.

There are two possibilities of teaching after the training. The first is to integrate Fan Teng Gong into your own profession, for example in therapeutic, pedagogic, artistic or other professions. This requires four to five years of training, with approximately 630 teaching hours. In addition, you may receive permission to teach several exercises from the optional courses.

Second is the option of gaining permission to teach under licence from or at the Dao Yuan School. In this case, according to interest and the courses taken part in, the whole of Fan Teng Gong (after having pracised the whole Nei Jing Gong 2) and Nei Jing Gong 1 (after having practised the whole Nei Jing Gong 3), Shui Gong, Cai Qigong, Qigong for the Eyes, Xing Gong, and Daoist Sitting Exercises can be taught. Permission is only given to especially suitable qigong teachers.

The Dao Yuan School for Qigong is conceptualised as a master school. We understand a master school in two ways: first, that the school is directed by a master; and second, mastery in qigong is the aim of the training given by the school. The teaching at the Dao Yuan School attempts to combine the traditional master-pupil relationship with modern forms of teaching in larger groups.

The Main Subjects

Nei Jing Gong is the core of the qigong training offered by the Dao Yuan School. This form of qigong can lead to mastery in qigong in its three stages. People can only be given permission to teach Nei Jing Gong in the framework of the Dao Yuan School.

People interested in teaching qigong are recommended to start with Fan Teng Gong. We also advise people who wish to practise qigong for health reasons to start with Fan Teng Gong.

In addition to Nei Jing Gong and Fan Teng Gong, participation in the following courses is compulsory for obtaining permission to teach within the qigong training at the Dao Yuan School.

Gua Sha Fa
Energy Field
Exercises to Absorb Qi from the Sun and Moon

(Gua Sha Fa and 'Sun and Moon' are offered once or twice every two years, Energy Field is offered once or twice a year.)

The Optional Subjects

The following forms of qigong are also taught at the Dao Yuan School.

Exercises to Absorb Qi from Trees
Xing Gong
Shui Gong
Daoist Sitting Exercises
Qigong for the Eyes
Cai Qigong
Diagnosis and Treatment with Qigong
Acupuncture with One Needle

These exercises and methods are supplementary to the main forms of qigong (Fan Teng Gong and Nei Jing Gong).

Telephone and mail support for course participants

All participants in the courses may contact the Dao Yuan School with any questions regarding the exercises or reactions to qigong by telephone or email.

Confirmation of participation in courses

Confirmation of participation in individual courses is only given for tax purposes. Each course is part of the training programme as a whole and participation in individual courses is not recognised as a qualification.

Confirmation of further professional training

People learning Nei Jing Gong as further education in their professional life, may receive confirmation of completing Nei Jing Gong 2. This does not represent permission to teach the forms learnt.

Permission to teach

Permission to teach Fan Teng Gong can be given when all main subjects have been taken and Nei Jing Gong 2 has been completed. The exam is given by Master Guo Bingsen and diplomas are signed by him.

There are two different types of diplomas: assistant and teaching diplomas. The Assistant Diploma is valid for two years. After one or two years it can be changed into the Teaching Diploma for Fan Teng Gong.

The Assistant Diploma allows the holder to teach Fan Teng Gong, as well as to take part in Fan Teng Gong courses at no charge. Trainees with assistant status are obliged to refer their own pupils to the Dao Yuan School if they have strong reactions to qigong.

The Teaching Diploma is initially valid for two years. After several years of independent teaching, permanent permission to teach may be given.

Teachers who wish to support the work of the Dao Yuan School, may be given permission to teach Dao Yuan Fan Teng Gong. This means their teaching conforms with the teaching at the Dao Yuan School. A written licence is agreed. Permission to teach the optional subjects in their entirety may be given to teachers working under licence from the School with the special agreement of Master Guo Bingsen.
