It was Lao Tze who introduced the term, dao, in Chinese philosophy. In everyday use, dao means way. Lao Tze used this term for the nameless origin of all life and all form. It became central to Chinese, in particular to Daoist philosophy.
The philosophy of Daoism, which also forms the basis of Chinese medecine, is based on the practical knowledge of qigong. Practical experience of qigong permits the understanding of these theories.
Yuan means affinity, inner closeness, a sort of relationship or kinship where resemblences are found.
With the name, Dao Yuan, we express an affinity with Daoist philosophy and that we value Daoism´s orientation to the natural, inner dynamic of everything in existence.
The seminars and courses offered by our school are open to all those interested in qigong. The seminars and courses can be attended
by beginners as well as people who already have experience in qigong.
We call the series of qigong forms put together by Master Guo Bingsen Dao Yuan Qigong. This teaching programme includes main and supplementary forms of qigong: the main forms are Fan Teng Gong and Nei Jing Gong, the other forms - although they are often of a high level - are supplementary exercises. The main forms develop qi; the supplementary forms support and speed up the results of the main exercises. Advanced pupils should also practise a sitting exercise.
We recommend the beginner to start with Fan Teng Gong. It is also possible to take part in a training programme lasting several years and culminating in a diploma.
The training offered by the Dao Yuan School for Qigong comprises:
